Cooperative Communication Workshop – February 4, 2012, at International Cooperative House, 140 West Gilman Street
Living in cooperation means opportunities for learning about ourselves and others abound. We all know that communication skills are important, but what does that actually look, sound, and feel like when we are in conflict with someone we live with and care about? Join us to explore how to communicate more effectively and live out the values of cooperation, compassion, and respect. Learn a simple, effective process through a combination of lecture, small group practice, and large group discussion. For more information and to register, visit the Cooperative Communication Workshop page.

Evaluate Staff Members
Two of our staff are at the end of their 6-month probationary contracts, which means that we are reviewing them. Any MCC member has the opportunity to evaluate these staff people by filling out a form on our website. To evaluate Michael, our Maintenance Coordinator, click here. To evaluate Rek, our Member Services Coordinator, click here. These evaluations will be available until January 25, 2012.
We will be having our staff evaluation meeting, open to all, on Friday, January 27 at 6pm. Feel free to stop by if you have any concerns, praises or improvement ideas for our staff members. We will hear these for the first half of the meetings. Michael’s meeting is from 6-7pm, and Rek’s meeting is from 7:30-8:30pm. The meeting will be held at Phoenix Cooperative, 636 Langdon Street.

To learn more about the opportunity, visit the full description of the position. If you are interested, email Michael Carlson <maintenance4mcc@gmail.com> and Kevin Gibbons <kevinmgibbons@gmail.com> or call the office (251-2667) ASAP.

All Madisonians who build community or local economy, connect with their land or achieve self-empowerment, who make this city and bioregion a special place may include themselves by writing their narratives upon a portrait drawn and painted of them by The Portrait-Story artist – Co-op members especially are encouraged to write about their experience self-organizing as members of intentional communities. For more information or to get involved, visit the MCC’s Portrait Story Project page.
