Ofek Shalom Co-op is a vegetarian and vegan co-op situated in a small, comfortable house near the Kohl Center on the corner of Bassett and Dayton. We are a dynamic community made up of 11 working and studying people from a range of backgrounds. We enjoy late-night discussions, jam sessions around the piano, movies and our two annual parties. We are dedicated to providing a comfortable environment for people with a variety of world-views. Every Friday evening we celebrate Shabbat with a joyous meal (including homemade challah) for anyone who would like to join us. In addition, we hold holiday celebrations throughout the year.

Range of standard room costs: $330-$380

Pet Policy: Pets are allowed granted that current house members are open to it.

Current pet situation: Currently, we have a dog that is kept in his owner’s room unless supervised in common spaces. The house has had cats in the past.

Type of food served: Our house serves home cooked vegan and vegetarian meals. Meat is allowed in the house personal fridge and can be cooked if done on non-house dishware.

When are meals served: House dinners are served Sunday through Thursday at 6:30pm and at 8:00 pm on Fridays. No house meal on Saturdays.

Cost of food: $100/month per member.

Describe your neighborhood: The neighborhood is downtown, about five blocks from the Capitol square and just off of the UW campus. The house is situated near major buslines on Gorham and Johnson.

Membership process (summary): To complete the membership process, an interested membershipper attends three dinners at the house to become acquainted with the house and its members. At the third dinner, the interested membershipper is asked a set of standard membership questions and is given the opportunity to ask any questions of the house.

Food membership option: Non house members can food membership for 3 meals a week for $30 a month or full access to the kitchen for $100 a month. The house is open to negotiating other arrangements for food membership depending on interest and availability of membershippers.
